Awesome, things are starting to take shape , a mansion in the making. One thing about this "Ugly Old " house I loved was the view and the tasty food that my auntie cooked in that primitive kitchen , unreal . I'm also glad to hear the old table is going to stay , had many good meals on that "Old Table" good memories of so long ago. Saudades e beijos from Canada.

All the work already done looks so sturdy it gives me, obviously only looking at it on tv, confidence that you and Dan will be safe....thinking back to the beginning I honestly thought the house would have to be knocked and rebuilt to make it secure. 💚. The poster looks great.

Do you have a good size wooded area on your property that you can cut firewood from? The way things are going in the world it’s best to be as self-sufficient as possible. Very smart to put in wood heat.

We bought a house and also a ruin in Salaborda Nova - near Figuero dos Vinhos and we have been working with an architect on plans for the ruin. I think you are close to us ? We are about 30 min south of Coimbra

Heat pumps are the cheapest way to heat and cool the house. Make sure you insulate well and plug all the leaks for even better performance! Good luck! The house is going to look amazing with all the vaulted ceilings👏

Amazing progress and so much more satisfying than knocking it down and building a new house from scratch. Love how you're recycling whatever you can and the garden is abundant! You must be self sufficient in food for the year! Hopefully the channel can help a little with your renovation costs, and your birthday present to yourself looks splendid! Where will you hang it? The walk through was really fun. It helps to keep up with all of the changes both past and future. I truly appreciate the visual aids you used to show the layout in relation to where Dan was at.

You might want to consider an outdoor ceiling fan for the veranda to cool you off and keep mosquitoes away!
